2016 has been a year of miracles for Leve Kanpe!
We give God praise!

Every day of the year was spent in preparation for September 8:
our final move to Haiti!

As we said goodbye to family, friends, our home, and Jeremy’s job, the Lord carried us all the way.

Here are the highlights of the first few months of                 full-time ministry in Haiti!

Settling

Picture
In a miraculous string of events that could have only been orchestrated by the Lord, many hands contributed to the building of a second story apartment at JoyHouse.  We give God praise for our cozy home!   Construction began in late July and was completed in just 6 weeks!
***
As expected, the first few weeks were spent making sure everything was in working order—electricity, running water, and transportation.  We have had a sharp learning curve through this process!  Less than four weeks after we arrived, Hurricane Matthew devastated our neighbors to the west.  Mercifully, our community was spared the worst and our home sustained no damage.

The kids have transitioned to island life beautifully by God’s grace.  Jared and Julie are currently enrolled in an online school, while Lizzy, Sam, Leah and Elena are homeschooled by mom.  All six of them sharing one bedroom has offered many opportunities for practicing patience and grace!  Slowly but surely, we are all beginning to learn the language.    Jared and Julie teach an English class for the church youth once a week, and in return, they are gaining valuable lessons in Creole!

Supporting

Close to our heart is the thriving ministry of JoyHouse.   Our first days have been spent working in collaboration with JoyHouse staff and existing projects, including weekly women’s ministry activities, youth group events, mission teams, and Hurricane Matthew Relief.

Leve Kanpe is entering into the third year  of providing support for the 13 orphans at
the Foyer de Infants de Jesus.  Because of the  investment of generous sponsors, the
children are receiving monthly deliveries of nutritious food, as well as school tuition, books, uniforms, school supplies, and medical care.

We are excited to share the news of our partnership with
One Egg Haiti,
an organization that provides one egg per day to impoverished and undernourished children in orphanages and schools.
On Thanksgiving Day, construction began on a 10,000 chicken farm in our community.
Leve Kanpe is providing management and training during the start-up, actively working to ensure the sustainability of the farm, using local labor and resources.

Starting

Children’s Church at the Evangelical Church of the Great Commission
***
Raising up the next generation to know the truth of the Gospel is a responsibility we take seriously.  In early October, we launched a Sunday morning ministry for the children in the church with the help of a strong team of Haitian leaders.  As we work through the book of Genesis, nearly 100 children are growing in their understanding of God’s word and in faith in Jesus Christ.

Women's Bible Study
***
Great joy is found through intentional discipleship of our church family.  Beginning with Creation, we meet monthly to guide a group of 60 women through a chronological study of God’s Word.

Seeking

We continue to seek the Lord’s direction on opportunities to take the Gospel to the people in Gressier in 2017.

On the radar for the upcoming year:

*Mobile Clinic—a purposeful Gospel-centered outreach to those in our community who are sick, hurting, lonely, and spiritually lost.

*Awana—training and equipping leaders in this scripture training curriculum and launching Awana clubs in our local church, as well as 25 other churches in the area.

*Community Center—beginning construction on facilities where local residents can receive skills training and career education.

*Additional Sustainable Business Opportunities
