Nich La ~ The Nest

After their mother abandoned them, this aging father was forced to leave his 14 month old malnourished twin boys home alone for extended periods of time while we worked as a fisherman. Losing hope over time, he believed his only option was to surrender his babies to an orphanage, thereby separating children from their only remaining parent.
Sadly, this true story is all too common among families in Haiti.
The Lord has given us a clear vision to meet this urgent need: a day care within the Leve Kanpe Community Center for the children enrolled in our nutrition program. A safe place — a “nest”—where these hungry babies can come to eat, grow and learn while their parents are away working to support their family. In Haitian Creole, “Nich la” (“The Nest”) will be a free day care option where mothers and fathers can bring their babies and go to work with confidence and dignity. We believe this is a solution to bring hope, preserve families, and provide these most vulnerable babies security, nutritious meals, and early education.
To create this bright, happy space, we plan to use a large, free-standing building on the Leve Kanpe property that is currently used as a storage depot. Before we can open the doors, we are in need of funds to:
- prepare the space (soft flooring, walls built, paint) $750
-stock with needed items (toys, feeding utensils, chairs and table, high chairs) $1,200
-ongoing sponsors for monthly expenses (day care staff, meals for children, diapers) $250/month
